VUCA Health Named Finalist in 2014 Triple Tree iAwards for Connected Health

LAKE MARY, Fla. – (April 15, 2014)VUCA Health has been named a finalist in the 6th Annual Triple Tree iAwards for Connected Health, which recognizes exceptional companies that are demonstrating innovation in healthcare by developing solutions that leverage mobile, wireless, social or cloud-based delivery models. As a finalist, VUCA Health will be featured at the 9th annual Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA) 2014 Convergence Summit, taking place May 14-16, 2014 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego.

“Health literacy is a significant challenge in healthcare today, particularly for pharmacists who must find better ways to stay connected to their patients when it’s most needed – when they’ve left the pharmacy with their prescriptions,” said VUCA Health CEO David Medvedeff, PharmD, MBA. “MedsOnCue helps to solve this problem by coupling digital content with mobile technology to create a powerful platform from which pharmacies can deliver meaningful patient education that overcomes the barriers to medication adherence. We are honored to be among the innovators recognized by Triple Tree as an iAward finalist.”

Utilizing QR codes printed on prescription labels, SMS text messaging and email, MedsOnCue engages and educates patients by linking them directly to thousands of medication-specific videos in the MedsOnCue library. Available in English and Spanish, the videos provide comprehensive information on top-prescribed medications, including proper usage, expected benefits and potential side effects. This helps ensure patients understand how to take their medications safely and limits any avoidable reactions.

Finalists for the 2014 iAwards were selected based on how their transformative solutions are addressing the most pressing needs in healthcare and enhancing how care is delivered, with criteria to include the clinical, operational or consumer relevance of their solution, marketplace traction, functional uniqueness, size of addressable market and international presence. Winners will be announced at the WLSA 2014 Convergence Summit, which attracts more than 350 healthcare executives, innovators, thought leaders, and investors from across the globe.

“The number and quality of nominations this year underscores the maturity of connected health solutions across the industry,” said Chris Hoffmann, Senior Director at Triple Tree. “Our evaluation committee found it challenging to limit our recognition to just a dozen organizations from such a high quality field of applicants.”
